Extreme Engineering: Transatlantic Tunnel!!!

A magnetically levitated train could theoretically take you from New York to London in 54 minutes. But you'd have to go 5,000 mph through a 3,100 mile-long tunnel that itself was floating in the Atlantic Ocean. How might that work?

Other projects of Extreme nature include the Sky City (Tokyo), City in a Pyramid (Tokyo), 55 mile Bering Strait Bridge, Tunneling through the Alps, Airport at Sea (Hong Kong), Boston's Big Dig, Panama Canal 2, American Subways (New York City), and Flood Stoppers (a.k.a. "Dam with doors", Holland). Visit Discovery Channel Extreme Engineering
